Motor/Tranny/T-case Empty Motor/Tranny/T-case

Post by 4x4 Frog Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:27 am

Hey folks, I am looking for a motor and I have several people on the look out for one.
What I am looking for is iether 4.0 out of a Jeep or a Chevy vortec out of a late 90's Blazer.
I will need Motor/ tranny/t-case + wiring harness. I am leaning more to the Vortec side of the search but Jeep 4.0 will work also. Pref. LOW MILAGE or real GOOD Cheap deal that I can rebuild with out a whole lot of extra cost. I can't afford to buy one ready to stab so I will be rebuilding it over a short period of time. I don't know how much I am looking to spend really. But since this is a (really needs to be done) /project type of deal I don't expect it to be free Just honest.

If you need to get the transmission rebuilt - email me. I have a friend of a friend that rebuilds transmissions. He works at AAMPCO and does rebuilds on the side.

For a motor yes ( under 1k), Motor tranny and t-case as long as it's EFI I can bare to spend a little more. I don't want to spend A LOT if I have to rebuild the whole thing. If it all runs good, shifts fine and transfers well under 85k miles then I can see maybe 1500 for the set up. I was quoted 2200 for a full set up under 75k miles anytime I want it with a warranty but its going to take me an arse load of petro to go pick it up in OKC and freight will be about the same if not more. Plus it is a friend of a friend of a salesman I know and friends often try to middle man it despite what anyone says.. opportunity for money is exactly that.. opportunity! This is also something I am going to be working on over time so I have the option to look around.

It ran fine, it was just time for an upgrade. It could use a rebuild though...
