Re: $100 Dana 44
WARNING! It had drums! That means it's an old 44 (late 60's to '74)-that means smaller carrier, shafts and bearings, etc. Ford actually made two versions of the 44 during the same time-an automobile light duty rearend 44 like this and for the front of the Bronco's-and the truck 44 that most paople think of-so you have to watch out. There's really nothing wrong with the 'smaller' 44-it's just not the same 44 that most people think about. It's a good price if all you are looking for is a housing, but you will spend a lot of cash changing everything out and adding discs...just my 2 cents...

D44 rear is lame. Im sorry, but for the money, you can get a 14 bolt and be the king of the hill. I dont know squat bout fronts thoe, Thats why i sold it, but i think the one out of the Bronco was a pos, but the waggys are where its at.
Why dont you spend the cash on a Diamond front axle house, use some old Yota knuckles, pop in some of Bobby Longs goodies, and BANG your big pimpin.

I agree-if you're going to swap out your rearend-a 60 or a 14 are the best choices-you can make them bullet proof...
